View Marbut Traditional Theme School
Welcome to Mrs. Benton's
Art Class

My Name is Carolita Chester Benton. I have served as Marbut Theme School's Art Teacher for the past 11 years. I am a native Georgian. I fell in love with art at an early age. I received my Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Art Education from Morris Brown College in Atlanta, GA. I also earned my degree in Graphic Design from the Art Institute of Atlanta in 2001.

I am a Visual Artist, with a catalog of more than a hundred works. I primarily work in acrylics, although I love using a variety of mediums and styles to express my interests in Afrocentric themes. Although the majority of my work is acrylics, I work with water colors, pastels as well as creating 3-d works of art. I am captivated by the role various mediums can play when creating art. I'm always fascinated by the creative process; the idea of how one mark leads to the next, as my drawings develop, has always kept me enjoying the visual arts. This same joy I strive to bring to my students through their works.
